DSP Power for Embedded Systems

PC/104-Plus is ideal for embedded applications because of its small form factor and robustness. Sheldon Instruments offers a full range of high performance floating point DSP boards for such systems. The SI-C6713DSP-PC104p board features the latest TMS320C6713 DSP running up to 300Mhz, and can be easily programmed in LabVIEW and Visual Basic.

PC/104-Plus

PC/104-Plus systems consist of stacking modules with a 120-pin PCI bus connector to allow multiple modules to be added to the system with out the burden of backplanes and cartridges. The minimized size (3.6 x 3.8 in) and the low power consumption make this form factor extremely popular for any type of embedded test/measurement and digital control systems.

DSP Power plus flexible analog and digital I/O

The Sheldon Instruments SI-C6713DSP-PC104p DSP board is ideally suited for those kinds of real time processing applications. The board features the latest 300Mhz TMS320C6713 DSP from Texas Instruments, up to 256Mbytes of SDRAM using conventional 144 pin SODIMMs, and the typical power consumption is only 2.25Watts. An expansion site for a family of multifunction I/O modules extends the DSP power with up to 64 analog inputs and 16 analog outputs; a timing interface with 2 digital synthesizers and 4 counters; and a digital interface that comprises 32-bit of general purpose I/O, 2 quadrature encoders, 2 frequency counters, and 2 PWMs outputs.

No C Compiler and No DSP Experience Required

Sheldon Instruments' unique DSP software libraries QuVIEW and QuBASE enable system engineers to comfortably program their DSP system in LabVIEW or Visual Basic: no vendor specific C compiler, assembler, or linker is necessary; nor is it expedient to have had any DSP experience whatsoever. QuVIEW and QuBASE based programs are extremely fast and efficient. Depending upon the application, LabVIEW and Visual Basic may both be accelerated by as much as 100 times!

However, for those who require a custom development, the conventional C/C++ based tools are still supported with extensive source code distribution.

Pricing

The price for a SI-C6713DSP-PC104p board with a 300Mhz DSP and 64MB of SDRAM starts at only US-$1,985, with I/O modules starting at another US-$595. The QuVIEW and QuBase software is included free of charge with any DSP board.
